a mammoth weekend.

or...maybe not so mammoth. i have been busy organizing a little man birthday party...yay! and...oh yeah...michael got his ski pass today. he was so excited this morning as we drove over to buttermilk mountain, near snowmass/aspen. the passes were finally available in our area, despite it going to be a little while before they open any of the ski runs. not sure when opening day is around here...but i'm sure michael will be all over it! skiing isn't quite a priority for me right now, even though i am interested in learning, so no pass for me. i'll just wing it...& hopefully not break it! we were greeted by "the perfect weather" for purchasing a ski pass (according to mike) this morning as we drove too. snow on the slopes.

afterwards...i wanted to go search for the mammoth. yep, a mammoth search. recently, remains of a mammoth, mastodon, bison, ground sloth & an ice age deer were found in our very own backyard of snowmass. i picture a scene from 'ice age', cartoon characters of these guys walking around, telling stories, and finally settling in colorado...well, i mean, why wouldn't they?! it's awesome here. only to be found thousands & thousands of years later. okay, the nerd side of me just took over the blog, but i find the story fascinating =) ...and the best part of it, is that they weren't searching for them...they were discovered by the group construction workers, working on a reservoir project...alright! i'll stop. but if you're so fascinated too, you can check out this link for more on the story... go ahead, it's okay...i won't judge you for being a fellow nerd ;) Experts abound at Snowmass Village dig site SnowMassSun.com

so that's all of the exciting news around here lately. we are looking forward to a big upcoming week & weekend...oliver turns one! mary & steve are coming out for a visit! and we are heading to boulder to see friends, ashley & aaron, for the isu vs. colorado game!
